Bromonordiazepam

Bromonordiazepam: A Comprehensive Guide for Researchers

Bromonordiazepam is a research chemical that is used for scientific advancement only. Bromonordiazepam is a type of benzodiazepine, which is a class of psychoactive drugs with sedative-hypnotic properties. It is a derivative of the benzodiazepine drug, nordazepam, that is often used in the formulation of other psychoactive drugs. Bromonordiazepam is also known by its chemical formula, BMDP, and its other name, 6-bromo-2′-chlorodiazepam.  Bromonordiazepam belongs to the group of benzodiazepines, which are a class of psychoactive drugs that affect the central nervous system.  Continue reading to learn more about this research chemical and its place in science.

What is Bromonordiazepam?

Bromonordiazepam (desalkygidazepam) is a metabolite of the prodrug Gidazepam, a drug licensed for use in Russia and Ukraine under the brand name Gidazepam IC®.  It is a member of the benzodiazepine family, which includes drugs like diazepam (Valium) and alprazolam (Xanax). Bromonordiazepam is commonly referred to as Desalkylgidazepam or Bromo-Nordazepam.  It acts as both a sedative and a hypnotic.  It’s similar to other benzodiazepines such as Bromazolam, Fluclotizolam, and Clonazolam,  Bromonordiazepam has a chemical structure like other benzodiazepines, including the presence of a benzene ring and a diazepine ring. However, its unique properties come from the addition of a bromine and chlorine atom to the diazepine ring, which alters its pharmacological effects.

What are Benzodiazepines?

Benzodiazepines (BZDs) are a class of psychoactive chemicals with a wide range of applications from research to prescription pharmaceutical drugs that treat anxiety disorders.  One of their functions is increasing the activity of a neurotransmitter called GABA.  This in turn leads to an increased dopamine release.  Some commonly prescribed examples of benzodiazepines include Diazepam (Valium), Lorazepam (Ativan), and Clonazepam (Klonopin).

History of Bromonordiazepam

Bromonordiazepam was first synthesized in the early 1970s and has since gained popularity as a research chemical due to its unique pharmacological effects. However, it has never been approved for human use by the FDA or any other regulatory agencies due to its potential health risks.  No pharmaceutical drugs containing Bromonordiazepam have been developed to date, most likely, due to concerns about its safety, efficacy, and potential for dependency and abuse.  Instead, it found its way into the research community, where it is now used for scientific study.

Uses in Scientific Research & Advancement

To date, there have been no clinical trials or published research studies focused solely on Bromonordiazepam.  However, this does not mean there’s no place for it in science.

Bromonordiazepam has a chemical structure that is unique among benzodiazepines. It has an additional bromine and chlorine atom added to the diazepine ring, which alters its pharmacological effects. The exact mechanism of action of Bromonordiazepam is not yet fully understood, but it is thought to work by increasing the activity of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), an inhibitory neurotransmitter in the brain.

The chemical has been found to have sedative, hypnotic, and anxiolytic properties, making it a potential research tool for studies on sleep disorders, anxiety, and other neurological conditions.

Bromonordiazepam is not currently illegal on a national level.  However, others in its class have been banned.  For now, its sold only for research purposes.  Always check the laws and regulations in your country and state before purchasing this research chemical as laws change all the time. In the United States, Bromonordiazepam is not currently listed as a Controlled Substance under the CSA, but some states may have banned its use, sale, or possession.  It is highly recommended you check with your state’s current laws and cunsult an attorney before ordering.

Why isn't Bromonordiazepam a pharmaceutical drug?

Bromonordiazepam is not currently a pharmaceutical drug because it has not undergone the same rigorous testing and clinical trials as approved drugs. Additionally, the long-term health effects of this chemical are not well-known, and its potential for abuse and addiction have raised concerns among health professionals.

Legal Status

In the United States, Bromonordiazepam is unscheduled at the federal level. Despite being unscheduled there have been several arrests worldwide for mismarketing Bromonordiazepam as Alprazolam, which constitutes a counterfeit drug charge among others.  Bromonordiazepam is illegal in several countries in Europe and may, in the future, be banned in the United States unless researchers can find an appropriate use for it through scientific research. Always consult your attorney and review your state law before purchasing Bromonordiazepam, or any research chemical.

Wrapping Up

In the United States, bromonordiazepam is currently legal to purchase for research purposes only. However, it is important to note that the laws regarding research chemicals are constantly changing and vary by state and country. It is essential to stay up-to-date on any legal restrictions and guidelines before purchasing this chemical. Researchers should always be aware of the potential dangers of working with bromonordiazepam and take appropriate safety measures.

The future of bromonordiazepam remains to be seen, but its unique properties make it an interesting area of research for scientists. My research has confirmed that this is indeed a long acting partial agonist of the GABA A benzodiazapine receptor. This is a very subtle compound.
